HKPRDHU recommending local businesses put vaccination policies in place

The local Medical Officer of health is encouraging businesses in the area to re-evaluate their COVID-19 safety policies before another possible surge in cases.

Dr. Natalie Bocking says businesses in the health unit’s region should look at their COVID-19 safety plans and ensure they have the basics down in terms of infection prevention and control measures in place.

“I would strongly recommend that you consider putting in place for your business a workplace vaccination policy that looks at enabling all of your employees to access vaccine and supports them in that process,” she said.

Dr. Bocking also reminded businesses that the regulations under the Reopening of the Ontario Act in Step 3 are still in place, so there does continue to be a very important rule for indoor masking at this point in time.

“And I think this is really emphasized as we look to other jurisdictions such as British Columbia that are now reintroducing these measures as they see their case counts increase,” she said.
