HHHS asks community to not mistreat healthcare workers

Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) is reminding residents to be considerate with healthcare workers.

In a letter to the community, HHHS President and CEO Carolyn Plummer said that despite being “absolutely exhausted” from nearly two years of “all hands on deck” effort, healthcare workers continue to serve the community.

“As I’ve said in the past, the best way to support them is to follow public health measures – get vaccinated, get boosted, wear a mask in public spaces, reduce your contact, physical distance, and wash your hands,” says Plummer.

Plummer notes that the pandemic has been difficult for everyone, but bullying staff is not the answer and “any acts or threats of physical violence, disruptive behaviour, harassment or agreement will absolutely not be tolerated” at HHHS facilities.

She also asks that people refrain from taking photos, videos, or audio recordings on site, to protect staff and patient privacy.

“It has been a long two years, and we know everyone is tired,” says Plummer. “We must continue to put kindness first, look out for one another, and do all we can to keep each other healthy and safe.”
