Crowe Valley Conservation issues water safety statement

The spring melt has begun in the region and the Crowe Valley Conservation Authority says it could mean flooding.

With warm temperatures and precipitation expected over the next few days, the Authority says that water from the snowpack is expected to cause minor flooding in flood-prone areas. They expect increased flows around dams and hydro plants, and fast running water through bridges and culverts. They are also urging people, especially children, to stay off the ice.

The news comes as the whole of southern Ontario comes under a flood watch. The weekend rains are expected to dump up to 30 millimetres of rain on the region over the weekend before moving into Quebec.
