Health Unit says lack of fluoride in our drinking water leads to tooth decay in children

April is Oral Health Month so our local health unit is reminding parents about the importance of brushing their child’s teeth at least twice a day.

Haliburton County’s drinking water system doesn’t have fluoride added to it like other areas, so Oral Health Promoter Anna Rusak says children should be using toothpaste with some fluoride in it. She says this lack of fluoride is one of the reasons our area has a higher rate of childhood tooth decay than in other areas.
