Texting 911 now available for hearing and speech impaired residents

The OPP has now made it easier for the hearing or speech impaired to call 9-1-1. The OPP says you can now text T-9-1-1 on your cell phone if you need to make an emergency call. You just need to set up your cell phone with your wireless provider beforehand for it to work. The OPP wants to make it clear this service is only for the hearing and speech impaired residents of our community.

An Information Card is available on the OPP website or through the Canadian Wireless Telecommunication Association.
