With the ice disappearing on area lakes, people are starting the launch their boats, but the OPP are asking you to do a few things first.
All safety equipment should be checked to make sure it is working and is in fact still in the boat. Navigation lights are required when you’re on the lake before sunrise or after sunset, so make sure they are fully functional. For more boating safety, go to the Transport Canada website.
Officers are also reminding boaters that if you’re caught drinking and boating, your driver’s license will be suspended.
