New OPP detachment officially opens in City of Kawartha Lakes

The province of Ontario just announced the official opening of the new OPP detachment in Lindsay. It’s an 11.5 million dollar facility, holding about 70 employees.

It also has evidence vaults with an evidence processing area, a compound for seized vehicles and four holding cells.

The previous facility was built in the 1950s and was only 68 square feet, and this new one is 21,000.

Since 2003, the province has replaced or significantly renovated 78 OPP detachments.
