Parent tips from school board give information about concussions

This month’s parent tips from our local school board and health unit is sending the message about concussions. Forty percent of head injuries in children ages 10 to 14 occur during sports. That’s why the school board has resources for parents, coaches and teachers to create safe play in sports.

Things like sensitivity to light and noise, low energy, headaches, and difficulty remembering can all be symptoms of a concussion. If that is suspected, the child should be removed from any sport and assessed by a physician.

The school board has more information and resources on their website.
