There were over six thousand collisions involving a commercial transport truck last year alone.
This week, OPP were involved in a 24 hour traffic safety initiative aimed at truck drivers who travel on major Ontario highways. Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair says these collisions cost the most economically and socially, and they often cause highway closures that can last for hours.
OPP is sending the message to transport truck drivers asking them to make the commitment to be among the safest drivers on the road.
