It looks like things are on the up and up in Highlands East. This week’s council meeting saw a few reports showing increases, like the fire report where the department has responded to 50 per cent more calls than last year.

The other increase is coming from the building department, where 68 permits have already been issued this year, and 85 inspections were done in June alone. Based on that report, construction values have increased by 1.4 million in just one year.

The other positive came from the auditor’s report that said the municipality has an improved cash position and managed to pay off all of their loans.
