HKPR investigating skin infection in Campbellford

A few people are being treated for unusual skin infections in the Campbellford area.

Our district health unit says their early investigation leads them to believe it is M. marinum which can be caused by handling raw fish or seafood.

The health unit says there’s no risk to eating the fish or seafood, and the infection cannot be spread from person to person.

People with the reported cases are receiving treatment, and anyone with symptoms is being advised to see a health care provider.
