Weir Committee not giving up on Maple Lake

We haven’t heard the end of the petition to put a weir on Maple Lake.

It’s been brought up a few times over the past two years, but Algonquin Highlands council says it’s too risky for taxpayers. Reeve Carol Moffatt says they have a list of concerns including maintenance, environmental studies, funding, and effects on lakes upstream. She says council is willing to re-open the discussion if new or different information comes forward.

That’s just what the committee plans to do, according to Don Wetmore. He says they have solutions to all of the problems council is raising.
