Palliative care in the Madawaska Valley looking for volunteers

Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care is looking to expand its volunteer team.

The organization offers palliative care to patients and their families at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital, the Valley Manor and the new hospice that was built in Barry’s Bay last year.

Executive Director of the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation Toni Lavigne-Conway says palliative care is looking to add about 25 volunteers to its team of more than 60 members.  She says volunteers can help do anything from passing the time playing cards to baking and running errands.

Lavigne-Conway says those interested can contact palliative care to register.  Volunteers must attend training sessions once per week for five weeks starting September 24th.  Contact information can be found here.
