Self employment benefit program to end at HCDC

The Haliburton County Development Corporation is celebrating another successful year after their annual general meeting. The organization gives support to local businesses and non-profits through loans and funding. Executive Director Andy Campbell says there are other corporations like them across Canada, but Haliburton County stands out.

Investment Manager Tracey Dyson says they’ve given out over 1700 loans since they started 30 years ago. Last year alone, they gave out 92.

HCDC supports new and existing businesses through their different programs including the Eastern Ontario Development Program and the Business Incubator.

However, Campbell explains one program they’ll have to say goodbye to.

Of the loans approved last year, HCDC helped create about 82 jobs.
