Poppies are showing up all over town now that November is here and you can find one at various local stores. The Haliburton and Minden legions collect the money which goes into their own Poppy Fund. The Haliburton Legion takes those funds and puts it towards the needs of local veterans and cadet care at the branch. The Minden Legion is donating their funds to Hyland Crest for veterans, and the veterans’ wing at Sunnybrook Hospital. They also donate some to local cadets. Remembrance Day ceremonies are happening next Wednesday in both Minden and Haliburton villages.
