Trail counter reveals data about Algonquin Highlands trail use

The Township of Algonquin Highlands is getting an idea of what kind of trails people use the most in the area.

According to data collected from a trail counter, people are using the Frost Centre trails more than any others. In the month of October, there were 900 counts in total, counting people coming in and out.

Parks, Recreation and Trails Manager Dave Drobitch says things like low difficulty, a looped trail and distance options are all features that make it the most popular. He’s suggesting keeping those things in mind when council does any trail upgrades or new developments in the future.

Reeve Carol Moffatt is on board with the idea of the possibility of an urban trail in the township.
