Residents raise issues with new affordable housing location

A request to change the location of a new affordable housing building in Minden is raising a few concerns.

The 12 unit building was originally set for Stouffer Street, but now the corporation wants to put it beside the arena. It would mean the Township would be giving up park land.

An environmental impact study says the site won’t have a negative impact on wildlife. However, residents are worried about the deer, foxes and birds that are always in that area.

Councillor Pam Sayne also says she’s torn because it would mean cutting back on walking paths that people use every day.

Council will take a look at the report at their next meeting later this month.
