Last round of info sessions for free employment program for people 50+

The last round of information sessions is this week for the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW) Program. The Fleming CREW employment centre in Haliburton offers the program for free. Employment and Training Consultant Henriette Hoekstra says it’s available to people over the age of 50.

Hoesktra says the program is 12 months long and includes free training and workshops for the first eight weeks. The rest of the program includes work placements. She says they also provide some financial assistance so people don’t run into any barriers that would prevent them from taking part.

While the assistance is there, Hoekstra says the program doesn’t affect people who are already receiving financial assistance.

Information sessions are happening at the employment centre at 49 Maple Ave, above the Shoppers Drug Mart in Haliburton. They are from 1:30pm to 2:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.

For more information you can contact the employment centre at 705-457-2020. The TIOW program starts January 12th.
