Highland Storm weekend wrap-up November 27 – November 29, 2015

The Walkers and Heating Haliburton Health Team Highland Storm Peewee AE’s were the host team this past weekend for the International Silver Stick Regional Hockey Tournament in Minden. Game one saw the Peewee’s tie the Huntsville Otters 4-4, game 2 was a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Stirling Blues and game three saw Brendan Coumbs get a hat trick but it wasn’t enough as the Storm were eliminated by Tweed Hawks.

Meanwhile, the Joanne Shapley’s Source for sports Highland Storm Peewee A team had a busy weekend, they hosted the South Muskoka  Bears Friday night and beat them 6-0 Darian Maddock posted the shutout. Saturday night the Peewee A’s were in Parry Sound where Alex Little notched a hatrick in the 7-0 win and on Sunday Hunter Winder scored the only goal in a 1-0 win in a rematch with South Muskoka. Darian Maddock recorded his third consecutive shutout in the win.

The Highand Storm Bantam A team travelled to Pembroke to participated in the Regional Silver Stick tournament, this past weekend. In game one the Storm lost against the Mississippi Thunder Kings 5-0. Game 2 against the North Dundas Demons, was a close affair that ended with a 2-1 loss. Game 3 saw the Storm shut out the Baltimore Ice Dogs 1-0. Meanwhile  The Dollo’s Foodland and Smolen’s Dentistry Highland Storm Midget A team continued their winning ways with a 4-1 win over the Almaguin Ice Devils in Minden Sunday afternoon. Jayden Wood and Owen Patterson-Smith each notched two for the home side.

The Timber Mart Novice Highland Storm traveled to Huntsville on Saturday to take on the Otters. The Storm fought hard but ended up losing 6-1. The Storm goal was scored by Beckam Reynolds. Elsewhere The Tom Prentice and Sons / RM Carpentry Highland Storm Tyke team were in action on Saturday, against Tweed in Wilberforce.  Tweed came out strong and dominated play early taking a 3 – 0 lead into the second period.  The Storm battled back with a goal by Josh Scheffee in the second period and a goal by Brady Burtch in the third, but it wasn’t quite enough.
