Province not extending Municipal Land Transfer Tax, Scott calling it a win

The province is saying they won’t be extending the municipal land transfer tax, and Laurie Scott is celebrating. Our local MPP says it would have hit new home buyers with an average of $10,000 in new taxes.

Scott has been against the tax from the beginning, saying it would make buying a home even more unaffordable.

She says it’s something they caught early on and were able to push the government about.

Scott says a lot of residents in the riding signed a petition against the tax, and she’s happy for the support. She says they’ll be keeping an eye out to make sure the province doesn’t raise any more taxes.
