The Environment Committee of Highlands East is looking to educate residents on forest pests. Committee Chair and Deputy-Reeve Suzanne Partridge says these pests are killing trees, and education is a good first step.
Partridge says you can cut down infected trees, and if it’s done soon enough it could still be used as fire wood. The Environment Committee is discussing organizing an event to help teach residents more about the problems.
