We could see another change to our Hydro Bills in the New Year. That warning is coming from local MPP Laurie Scott. She says a recent report from the Auditor General shows the average family will be overcharged.
She says that could mean an increase of up to $140 per year.
Scott says the report shows Ontario is sinking deeper into energy poverty.
Scott also says the report confirms that Hydro One has been misleading the Ontario Energy Board when applying for rate increases to cover the cost of infrastructure. It’s also revealing the company still has a $4.4 billion backlog of infrastructure, according to Scott.
Scott says the provincial government needs to take a real hard look at its energy policies and put Ontarians first.
