The Alzheimer’s Society wants to eliminate stigmas associated with Dementia during this year’s awareness month. Education and Support Coordinator Sarah Krieger says many people believe those who suffer from Alzheimer’s are no longer capable of living an ordinary life, which is not true.Krieger says this inspired this year’s campaign, hash tag still here, in order to focus on the person and not the illness. Krieger says there are different ways for people to help, including getting educated and becoming an Alzheimer’s friend who helps those with the illness. She says people can also support or take part in this year’s Walk for Alzheimer’s happening on January 30th.
