Man Fined for Hunting Offences

An Orono man has been fined a total of $3,750 for hunting offences. Court heard that on November 8, 2015, Zachary Flood was hunting alone in the Haliburton area when he shot and killed a white-tailed deer. He did not attach his game seal to the animal and proceeded to drag it close to the nearest road. He eventually left the animal on a trail overnight without field-dressing it. The next morning when he went to retrieve it, animals had already partially consumed portions of the deer. Flood left the area and abandoned the deer. Flood pleaded guilty and was fined $750 for failing to immediately tag a deer, $2,000 for abandoning the deer and $1,000 for providing false information to a conservation officer.
