Frigid Temperatures Do Not Prevent Snowmobile Tragedies

Temperatures are expected to drop near the end of the week.

OPP is reminding Haliburton locals that when sufficient ice forms, it is never 100 per cent safe to snowmobile on.

After numerous ice related deaths in the past weeks police say that if you do choose to cross the water during these frigid temperatures to cross only where a marked stake line is in place and go directly from shore to shore, without stopping on the ice.

Staying off the ice altogether is the only way to prevent snowmobile tragedies from occurring on waterways.
