Charges for hunting waterfowl near bait

Hunting waterfowl near bait will cost you. Five hunters pleaded guilty to hunting waterfowl within 400 metres of bait and were charged this month. On the 2012 opening day of waterfowl season in Glamorgan Township of Haliburton Highlands, conservation officers discovered corn in ponds in the area of the men’s hunting blinds.  The case was heard last week and 2 men were charged $1,000 each and 3 men were each charged $800. Hunters are reminded bait must not be placed within 14 days of season opening and must be cleared 7 days before.
