On behalf of the municipalities, the county has asked the Health Unit for an extension on septic inspections. The Haliburton Health Unit announced last year they would no longer perform new septic inspections. Because most work begins in May, it doesn’t allow the municipality’s time to deal with the change and training. By telling the Health Unit now that they would like an extension until the end of the year, they have time to make a decision on whether to outsource, or do the work in-house, and deal with the necessary changes.
