Some students in the Haliburton County may get an unexpected holiday later this spring.

The Haliburton Health Unit has sent out 2500 first notices to local students who are not up-to-date with their immunization records. If records are not updated school suspensions for these students could start in June.

Manager of Disease Control at the health unit Marianna Rock says it’s not their intent to suspend students, but there is a requirement for all students to be immunized to protect everyone in our community.

She says families who receive a notice should immediately contact the health unit.
