Smokers in Haliburton County should expect an increase in tobacco tax.
The Ontario government has increased the price by three dollars per carton of 200 cigarettes.
According to the 2016 Budget tobacco rates will keep increasing over the next five years beginning in 2017.
The province is hoping this will work towards Ontario’s goal of having the lowest smoking rate in Canada.
