Council members say the biggest change is the OPP cost. The municipality is required to pay for police services which have made the municipal tax levy increase by 5.7%. Another tax increase will be 5.2% on property tax for residents of Algonquin Highlands. This tax increase will amount to an additional $21 for every $100,000 of property assessment.
