Minden Hills will contribute $10,000 to the new Haliburton County Food Centre. Agreeing that the renovation of the Newcastle street property is a worthwhile project for Minden and the whole county, council will take the money from 2012 reserves. Food Bank officials have also applied for $100,000 from the Ontario Trillium Build Fund. The project has been underway since last year, creating space for a walk-in fridge and freezer, and dry goods. The next phase of the project will add 2,600 square feet of additional space to house a commercial kitchen, accessible washrooms and office space.
