A Peterborough cardiologist has been accused of over-testing a number of patients for his own financial gain.
Founder of the Kawartha Cardiology Clinic Dr. Bill Hughes is testifying at his disciplinary hearing.
Hughes says the tests are ordered for the well-being of his patients.
Yesterday, another cardiologist Dr. David Fitchett, took the stand as an expert witness for the defence.

Fitchett says the appropriate level of testing is hard to judge.
He adds Dr. Hughes clearly cares about his patients and investigates them a lot which isn’t necessarily a criticism.
Hughes has been charged by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario with professional misconduct and falling below the standard of care.
The hearing continues today.
