Car thief caught after crash

A car crash leads to charges for an Algonquin Highlands car thief. On Wednesday
afternoon Haliburton OPP were called to a collision on county roads 503 and 507
in Gooderham. A man and his female passenger were in a stolen 1998 Chev Lumina
when they lost control and crashed into a snowbank. They fled on foot after
removing the license plates. The 21 year old driver was located and taken into
custody. He’s been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and a probation
offense and is being held until his bail hearing in Lindsay next month.
