The driver of a truck that went up in flames on Highway 118 near Fader Drive in Algonquin Highlands Township is now facing charges.

Officials say, yesterday, the 39-year-old Oshawa man was rescued by an off-duty officer before his vehicle went up in flames.

The man was brought to a local hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries, before being airlifted to a Toronto hospital for further treatment.

The man now faces charges of impaired driving and driving above the legal alcohol limit.

He is set to appear in a court in Minden in early July.
