A project has been started for transportation options in Haliburton County.

Project Navigator Tina Jackson says it’s being funded through the Ministry of Transportation.

She says the goal of this project is to fill transportation gaps in the community by addressing transportation needs.

Jackson has set up a 1-800 number that will be launched soon, to help residents learn about transportation options.

Jackson says they collected data by tracking and monitoring rides and requests last fall.

She says the results showed there are seven local programs that provide 16,000 rides a year.

She says the project will run until March 2017.
