The Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Pine Ridge District Health Unit says May is Speech and Hearing month.
They are urging parents and caregivers to help young children develop proper speech and language skills.
HKPR Shelley Shaughnessy says it’s important to identify communication delays or problems as early as possible.
She adds 10 percent of all Ontario preschool children have a communication delay.
