Six Provincial Bailiffs have been charged with several fraud-related offenses. The role of a provincial bailiff is to transport inmates from one institution to another. In the fall of 2013, the Correctional Services Oversight and Investigations Unit received a complaint that several bailiffs employed at the Correctional Centre in Lindsay, were fraudulently billing the Ministry for hours worked. After an investigation, 6 bailiffs were charged with fraud under $5000, uttering a forged document, falsifying employment records, and breach of trust. All will appear in court on March 27th. The investigation continues.
