The Haliburton County Council has agreed to keep the Rail Trail open to everyone while special events take place on the trail.
Director of Public Works Craig Douglas says although the trail has been closed on occasion, people have become familiar and comfortable with the multi-use nature of the trail.
He says it’s possible to carry out the special events without having to close the trail.
Douglas says event organizers will be expected to post signs saying an event is in progress to warn users.
