The Haliburton Highlands Heath Services can now move forward with the expansion of the Palliative Care Centre.
Officials say they have been approved by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
CEO Carolyn Plummer says the expansion will allow the best possible care for patients, as well as supporting their families in a home-like setting.
She says one of the things the project includes is a pull-out couch in every suite for overnight stays.

Plummer says the next step is asking contractors to submit bids for the capital project.
She hopes to start the construction by Fall.
