Bin Compacting in Minden Hills Could Be Costly

The township of Minden Hills has reached out to other landfill sites for advice on bin compacting in hopes of reducing the cost of shipping recycled material out of town.

Environmental and Property Operations Manager Ivan Ingram says he spoke to the supervisor at Progressive Solutions, and the President of Shanahan.

Both officials recommend not using bins for compaction because the cost may increase with sorting materials, and they would suffer significant damage over time.

Ingram suggest council decline the compaction pilot project.

The original idea came from Highlands Environment at a council meeting on February 11th.
