Haliburton Highlands OPP is continuing to warn locals about a scam in the area.

Officials say scammers are pretending to be a representative with the CRA asking for money to be transferred due to outstanding taxes.

Police say these notices are sent through email, text message or over the phone.

Warning signs to detect a fraudster include a sense of urgency and a request for money through services such as the Western Union and Money Gram.

Anyone who may have been affected by a scam is asked to contact police.
