The YWCA Receives $90,000 To Help Abused Women

The YWCA Peterborough Haliburton is receiving $90,000 from Ontario’s rural realities fund to help abused women in the community.

Executive Director Lynn Zimmer says they will be using the money to improve the organization’s outreach for rural women who have limited access to transportation.

Zimmer says they will be hiring a consultant to complete a study and a plan for the VAW shelter and counselling work in Haliburton.

She says the money will be given to them over a two-year period, which is when the project will be done.
