The municipality of Highlands East is considering a sewage system maintenance inspection program.
Councillors say the objective is to keep lakes, rivers, streams and groundwater pollution free.
Officials say they haven’t decided on the type of program that may be conducted, but it may include a visual inspection.
They suggest not using a sink garburator, and avoid planting near the leaching bed to keep your sewage disposal system happy.
The municipality is hoping to have a set program by spring 2017.
