With hot, humid weather in the forecast for the next few days, the Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit has issued an Extended Heat Warning for the area.

The health unit says temperatures will remain high until Sunday.

It says this weather can cause heat-related illnesses, like dehydration and heat stroke.

Officials say an extended heat warning is issued when the maximum daytime temperature is greater or equal to 31 degrees, and the nighttime temperature is greater or equal to 20 degrees.
