The Dysart et al Fire Department is reminding you smoke detectors expire after ten years.
On July 25th, 15 firefighters went door-to-door to check residents smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
Officials say out of the 100 homes they visited, 20 per cent were noncompliant with the law.
They say the law requires smoke alarms in all homes, and carbon monoxide detectors in any home that has a fuel-burning appliance, or an attached garage.
The fire department says these alarms and detectors could save your life.
