Parks Canada wants to remove Scott’s Dam Bridge at Canning Lake and in return, provide a safe walkway across the new dam.
This comes, after the Trent-Severn Waterway announced they would invest nearly $40 million towards the dams in Haliburton County.
The bridge was built in 1930, and was used as a single lane bridge.
Roads Superintendent Travis Wilson says metal and steel is sticking out of the structure which is a significant liability to the township.
Director of Ontario Waterways Jewel Cunningham says the bridge is in fair shape except for the concrete railings which may pose a safety hazard to the public.
