The fire in Algonquin Park which forced the evacuation of 12 campsites is now being successfully held.

Six crews and one helicopter continue to work in the area and the MNRF says no one has been hurt as a result of the now 48-hectare fire.

The fire ban in Algonquin Park was lifted on Sunday and rains helped the suppression crews to get a jump on containing the blaze.

The fire was originally reported on August 9th and the MNRF says it was caused by people in the High Falls area.
