Update: Paddy’s Bay Bridge reduced to one lane

The Paddy’s Bay Bridge has reopened but only to one lane, and the speed has been reduced to 10 kilometers.

Director of Public Works Brian Nicholson says he is still looking for engineers to do the repairs, so he isn’t sure when the bridge will be fixed.

Last Monday, the structure was closed to place a logging bridge on top of the existing one.

Nicholson says the bridge was built in 1966, so council needs to consider doing repairs could result in the structure being load rated.
