Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus have been found in our area.
The Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit says this is the first time the virus has been detected this year.
Several mosquitos in Lindsay have tested positive for the virus.
The health unit wants you to cover up when you’re outside, and clean up standing water around homes to help reduce the number of mosquitoes.

Officials say most people who get West Nile don’t have any symptoms, but some may feel like they have the flu.
