Harper designates May 9 as National Day of Honour

Prime Minister Harper was in Ottawa this morning to welcome home the last of the Canadian troops arriving from Afghanistan.

Harper paid tribute to the more than 40,000 armed forces members deployed to Afghanistan since October 2001.

In commemoration, he designated May 9 has National Day of Honour. Harper says this day will give Canadians the opportunity to reflect on the courage and sacrifices made by our soldiers.
